DeVita, M.Ed; Ed.S, BCBA, is a certified School Psychologist in the District of Columbia. She has worked with clients from infants to young adults for over nine years. She has a passion for working with students of varying ethnicities and cultures. Her research interests include increasing the language capacity of bilingual students and building academic skills utilizing behavior analytic techniques. DeVita is the proud mom to two rescue dogs. DeVita is a therapist supervisor.
Sevon, MA, BCBA, has worked with children with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds for close to 10 years. She is excited about building cultural pride among the children she works with. She is also highly interested in the linguistic development of children from bilingual households. Mawule is eager to help children reach their highest potential. She is a therapist supervisor.
Adanna, has volunteered at a therapeutic recreational program and is currently working with Beyond the BASICS Aftercare. In the future, Adanna aspires to become a social worker and ABA therapist. She is interested in in psychology and enjoys singing, dancing and modeling.
David, BA, RBT, is passionate about education, with sports coming as a close second. He moved to the area in 2011 after serving for City Year, followed by doing education research at his alma mater, UCLA. David has worked in education since serving as a peer tutor in high school and has continued working to serve the youth as a paraprofessional and coach at a DC charter school.
Diamond, MSW, has been in the education field for two years which has been a fulfilling experience thus far. She received her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Child and Family Welfare in 2014. Diamond has a strong passion for helping youth develop skills that will help them grow personally and professionally. She is excited to be on this journey with B.A.S.I.C.S.
Fatimah has been working with children at different schools for more than 10 years. She is excited to work with clients as an ABA Therapist. Her native language is American Sign Language (ASL). In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her partner and their son. She also loves nature and walking outdoors.
Fortune, has a degree in Biology and over 5 years’ experience working with children and seniors in private homes, group homes, schools, and clinical settings. He has a passion for working with children, and in the medical field which has paved the way for his commitment to the mental health arena. He is very interested in continuing his education and plans to pursue medical school with aspirations of becoming a physician. When not working, He loves to read, play soccer, and walk around the park with his sisters.
Gerra has earned a B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: American Sign Language and Psychology. She enjoys helping children reach their social & academic goals and looks forward to serving in the DMV area.
Jamila, BS, RBT, has a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She has previously worked for therapeutic recreation programs, support programs for adults with special needs, and group homes for young adults with special needs. Jamila also served as the site supervisor for an after school program for at-risk youth. She is from the DMV and her hobbies include photography, singing, dancing, and doing hair and makeup. Currently she is pursuing credentialing as a Registered Behavior Technician.
Kari, BS, RBT, has been working with children since 2009 and found her true passion when she started working in an Enhanced Autism classroom as an ABA IA in 2014. She plans to pursue a Masters in either Special Education or ABA and hopes to be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. On the side, she is a cat mom, a Professional Event and Portrait Photographer and a hardcore car enthusiast.
Sharae, RBT, has worked with individuals with autism for the past 3 years. She currently teaches in a special education classroom working 1:1 with students in Washington, DC. In addition to providing ABA therapy with B.A.S.I.C.S., Sharae is currently pursuing a degree in special education.
Sophia, RBT, has worked as an RBT in a clinic setting for over a year before joining the Beyond the BASICS Aftercare program. She has experience working with children from the age of two to sixteen in both group and one-on-one settings. Sophia is passionate about education, ABA, and promoting self-advocacy.
Tammy, BA, RBT, has worked with children since she was a teenager. She has worked with children with Special Needs for over 6 years and loves it. She has been a Para-professional for Maryland and DC schools. She loves to mentor pre-teen girls. She loves going to parks, traveling, and reading.
Tanika is a DC native who has been around children with Autism most of her life. She has experience working with children with Autism and trauma. She is also a certified pharmaceutical technician. In her free time, she loves spending time with her two children.
Taylor is an elementary school teacher, and is currently pursuing a masters in Counseling and RBT certification. She has worked with children in some capacity for over 7 years. She has been practicing the African-Brazilian martial of Capoeira for 3 years and assists with teaching youth capoeira classes since she started. Taylor enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing the guitar and is an avid reader.
Tiara earned a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is a DC native who enjoys working with children of all ages and needs. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and new adventures.
Tien, BS, RBT, has a degree in Psychology. His strive to work in the medical field has led him to work with adults with disabilities in the past prior to graduating. Immigrating from a foreign country also gave Tien the appreciation for other cultures and perspective. He hopes to continue his passion to help people gain skills using ABA.
Tierra, RBT has been with BASICS for 5 years (first as an intern, then office assistant, and now as a therapist). She is the oldest of 6 children and mother of 2. She has experience working with children in schools and in home settings doing ABA therapy. She also has worked as a Social Skills Instructor in our social skills program. She especially loves working with young children.
Tom, MS.Ed, has worked in group homes with adults, in Autism classrooms, and recently finished his tenure as a teacher at a senior high school. He is a father to an active 4 year old, infant, foster parent and has volunteered in orphanages all over the world. He has worked with various age groups but particularly enjoys working with pre-teens and teenagers.
Wendy, is fluent in Spanish and English. The first of 3 children, she relocated to Washington, D.C. in 2011 to pursue her career. She started her career in the medical field as a medical and dental assistant. Her number one passion and motivation has always been working with and helping children. In her spare time she loves activities with her family, hiking, rafting, working out at the gym and dancing with friends in Zumba class.
Yanita, BS, RBT has her degree in Psychology. Her passion for working with children drove her to work a children's hospital dedicated to children with autism, shortly after graduation. Having recently moved closer to the DC area, Yanita continued to pursue her passion for helping/working with children as a Therapist for BASICS. Yanita is very interested in continuing her education and plans to pursue her Masters in Clinical and Behavioral Psychology.
Christine, BS, BA: Director of Operations works to ensure smooth operations by communicating regularly with insurance companies, management and our clients. Christine received her BS in Accounting and her BS in Finance. She loves spending time with her children.
Emily, BA: Office Manager has over 7 years of experience in accounting and finance as both senior accountant and accounting supervisor, and also 4 years experience in banking. She is CPA certified (inactive) in the state of Washington and holds a BA in Business Administration, Accounting. She enjoys exploring Rock Creek Park with her husband and three young children.
Celia, MA: Operations Manager has a masters in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs with a concentration in human rights and gender. Previously she served on the board of a local non-profit working on maternal health policy advocacy. Celia also co-founded a bilingual cooperative playschool in her community. She is passionate about access to evidence-based, culturally sensitive healthcare services for women and children. She manages human resources, staff training, on-boarding new clients, and G Suite.
Christina, AA: Scheduling Specialist, has over 2 years of Administrative experience, and two years experience working as a Special Education Paraprofessional. She has her Associates in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in English. In her free time, she enjoys helping wildlife. She has connected with wildlife rehabilitators to help ensure the safety and needs of all animals are met. She also enjoys hikes and is an avid reader. Her favorite author is Steinbeck.
Malcolm, BS: Executive Assistant has a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science and currently pursuing a MS in Information Assurance. He most recently worked with a non-profit organization as the Pre-College Programs Director where he identified, recruited and prepared at-risk youth for the rigors of enrolling, attending and graduating from post-secondary institutions. Prior to his career in college preparatory education, he was a math teacher. He enjoys performing and martial arts; he is a martial arts instructor and a practiced cellist. He is frequently joined by his wife and child at the Capoeira school who enjoy kicking him often.
Jamilah, Administrative Assistant, wife and mother of 3, works as a Breastfeeding Educator at a local hospital in addition to working with BASICS as an administrative assistant. Additionally, Jamilah has 7 years of experience working with children as a Physical Education Instructor and Educational Aide at a DC area chartered school. In her free time Jamilah enjoys cooking, crocheting and spending time with her friends and family.
